Your IP is confidential
We understand that invention descriptions submitted to PatentNexus are confidential, pre-filing intellectual property. Protecting this information is our highest priority. We treat every submission as if it were our own trade secret.
Encryption
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest:
- — TLS 1.3 encryption on all connections (HTTPS enforced via HSTS)
- — Database encryption at rest (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse)
- — API keys are SHA-256 hashed before storage
- — Stripe handles all payment data (PCI DSS compliant)
How your invention descriptions are processed
When you submit an invention description for a patentability report, here is exactly what happens:
- Your description is sent to our API server over an encrypted connection.
- We use AI models (Gemini for classification, Claude for report generation) to analyze your invention against our patent database.
- Your description is stored in our database alongside your report results so you can access them later.
- The AI providers (Google, Anthropic) process your text to generate the analysis. We use their API services, not training endpoints — your data is not used to train their models.
AI model usage
PatentNexus uses third-party AI models for report generation:
- — Google Gemini (Flash Lite) for technology classification and query expansion
- — Anthropic Claude (Opus) for comprehensive report generation
Both providers offer API terms that explicitly state customer data sent through their APIs is not used for model training. Your invention descriptions are processed, not retained or learned from, by these AI systems.
Data retention
- — Reports and descriptions are retained as long as your account exists, so you can access them anytime.
- — Anonymous accounts (no email provided) and their reports are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- — Deleted accounts — contact us and we will delete all your data within 30 days.
- — API logs are retained for 90 days for debugging, then purged.
What we do not do
- — We do not sell, share, or license your invention descriptions to anyone.
- — We do not use your submissions to train AI models.
- — We do not share your data with competitors or patent research firms.
- — We do not display your inventions publicly or in any aggregated dataset.
Infrastructure
- — Frontend hosted on Vercel (global edge network, SOC 2 compliant)
- — API server on dedicated hardware in Germany (Netcup RS 4000)
- — Patent database: 166M+ records in ClickHouse (read-only analytics engine)
- — User data: PostgreSQL with encrypted connections
- — Payments: Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 compliant — we never see your card number)
